Notes
These ‘armorial’ ornaments were designed by Pugin to embellish grand curtains at Chirk Castle.
Lot 151 in the 2004 sale included twenty-three examples, of different patterns: three ‘wolf’ heads, two ‘palms with coronets’, eight gilt ‘B’s, two white ‘B’s and eight gold ‘M’s. These are now divided between several collections.
