It has not been possible to establish provenance before the present stool, the only one of its type recorded to date, was acquired in late 2019 through the trade. However, the stool’s closeness to the published design and the quality of the execution at least allow for the possibility that it once formed part of Hope’s interiors at Duchess Street.
The design of the stool forms a perfect cube.
