Notes
An unpublished drawing by A.W.N. Pugin (private collection) shows a three-light candelabrum of this form. The simplifications in the design of the present set demonstrated how John Hardman adapted Pugin’s designs for commercial production.
A related pair of silver-plated candelabra is in the collection of the Huntington Library & Art Gallery, San Marino, California.
A drawing, formerly in the Hardman Archive, shows a fireplace arrangement with similar (five-branch) candelabra.
