Notes
Symonds (1945, p. 73) comments with specific reference to the present set of chairs: ‘The best chairs are distinguished by their heaviness in weight owing to being constructed from fine textured heavy Cuban mahogany. Their carved decoration is crisp and accurate in this hard close-grained wood.’
