  • Notes

Symonds (1945, p. 73) comments with specific reference to the present set of chairs: ‘The best chairs are distinguished by their heaviness in weight owing to being constructed from fine textured heavy Cuban mahogany. ¬†Their carved decoration is crisp and accurate in this hard close-grained wood.’
